Takaful concept
Takaful means “guaranteeing each other” in Arabic, it is an Islamic system of mutual insurance built around the concept of “cooperation”. Cooperative contributions are made with the intention of helping other participants face difficulties and eliminating the resemblance of Takaful to gambling and exploitation. Each participant pays to a fund to cover expected claims, while also benefiting from a share of investment returns.

Peace of mind
You can rest assured that this plan is Shariah compliant and is approved by SABB Takaful’s Shariah Committee. The Shariah Committee members are:

Takaful Surplus distribution
The Surplus for distribution to Participants in the relevant financial year shall be the Takaful Surplus less the Performance Incentive Fee. The distribution of the Surplus will be subject to approval of the competent authorities, if required, and of the Board of Directors of the Company.
Geographical limits
The Contribution is based on the area of travel identified as Europian Schengen countries.
Personal accident protection
Compensation of up to SAR 300,000 in the event of accidental death or permanent disability (God forbid) whilst you are travelling overseas.
Medical and other expenses
- Coverage of up to SAR 300,000 against medical treatment expenses incurred due to injury or sickness whilst travelling overseas
- Coverage of up to SAR 30,000 against travel and accommodation expenses incurred by family members or travelling companions required on medical advice to remain or travel with you
- Coverage of up to SAR 25,000 against expenses incurred for transporting
- mortal remains to your country of domicile or the expenses associated with preparation of the remains
Emergency medical evacuation
- Coverage of up to SAR 300,000 for expenses incurred whilst moving you to another location or back to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for medical treatment as a result of injury or sickness sustained whilst travelling overseas
- We may engage the services of International SOS* to provide you with convenient arrangements for your evacuation needs worldwide
Automated and guaranteed renewal method
The option to renew your annual multi-trip Plan automatically every year and guarantee coverage up to the age of 65 years, regardless of your state of health.
The company also reserves the right to increase the contribution amount at the time of renewal.
Choice of contribution payment method
The option to pay your contribution either by using your Credit Card or by directly debiting your bank account.
Cooling-off period
Cancellation of the Plan is allowed within 21 days, from the date of dispatch of the Plan, with a full refund of your contribution, if no claim has been reported during this period. However, cancellation is applicable to the annual multi-trip Plan only.

General exclusions
This Plan does not cover the following:
Claims arising directly or indirectly as a result of
- Riots, civil commotion, war, invasion act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war declared or not), civil war, rebellion revolution, insurrection,military or usurped power or confiscation or nationalization or the act or order of any government or public or local authority
- Chemical or biological weaponry or ionizing or radioactive contamination
- Suicide or attempted suicide, willfully self-inflicted injury, childbirth,pregnancy miscarriage, insanity, alcoholism or the use of drugs (other than drugs taken in accordance with treatment prescribed and directed by a registered Medical Practitioner but not for the treatment of drug addiction self-exposure to needless perils (except in the attempt to save human life), venereal disease, AIDS or AIDS-related sickness
- Engaging in racing “other than on foot deepwater diving (diving to the depth of greater than 40 meters, motor rallies and competitions, professional sports or sports in return for income or remuneration and aviation “other than as a fare-paying passenger in a licensed aircraft operated by a recognized airline or air charter company which is duly licensed by the relevant authorities for the regular transportation of fare-paying passengers“
- Pre-existing medical conditions
- Engaging in winter sports. However, this can be covered by paying an additional contribution Claims arising directly or indirectly as a result of in respect of or due to terrorist activity.
